This page offers you information and maps for skiing
in the famous French ski resort of Morzine-Avoriaz in the international area
the
Portes du Soleil.
The skiing area of Morzine-Avoriaz is divided in 2 big areas:
- The Pléney-Nyon
area start from the centre of Morzine (1000meters), to the top of
" la Pointe de Nyon" up to 2000m, the ski slopes are linked to the
neighbour ski resort of "les Gets".
- The Avoriaz area start from the centre
of Morzine via the cable car of " Super-Morzine", and extends to the Swiss
border. The ski slopes are linked to "Châtel", the "Crosets", and "Champéry".
You can also take free shuttle bus connecting the various points of the
station, and for example reach "Les Prodains", bottom of the cable car
of Avoriaz.
The ski pass are for every areas or for the global area of "Les Portes
du Soleil", where you get an unlimited access to over 650 kilometres of
international ski slopes in France and Swiss.

For the total beginners, the
Plateau area offer a
nice place to learn, with various gradients, and moguls.
The Swiss wall, famous
black and very difficult slope between Chavanette and Planachaux in Swiss.
A wall high of over 300m and a
sleep of 80%.

The Chalet le
Nid is 200 meters away from the cable car of Avoriaz, and you
ski to the chalet on the slope.

. from 07/01/2007 to 10/01/2007 : LA GRANDE ODYSSEE
From 7th to 11th January, the Portes du Soleil area will serve as an
amphitheatre for an exceptional event: the 3rd Grand Odyssey, a race for
dog-sleighs will be battled out over the exceptional Portes du Soleil
domain. No less than 20 top world teams are expected from the whole
world over, to attempt the 350km circuit, during 5 stages and 2
bivouac-nights. The start from Morzine on the 8th January will be very
spectacular : mushers will cross the street specially snow-covered for
the event !

Championnships
